These last few days, I've been working on Khmer Archives, editing the layout, making the banner, and uploading my Women of Cambodia posts (which was a pain in the butt, but I did it!!). I've always wanted to have my educational/cultural posts hosted somewhere besides Instagram. It'll be a long term project, something I'll chip at bit by bit. I'm just happy I finally got this project off the ground!

Existing during this time can feel quite hopeless. Everyday, I see news about extracting more natural resources, approvals of chemical toxins on our food, destruction of land...the list goes on. Mentally, I feel so caged. It's hard trying not to let the gloom and doom of this country get to me when the bad news continue to outweigh the good news...It's really tough...

Who knew searching for a new laptop would be so time consuming 😖. My current laptop works fine for the most part, but battery drain has been a problem, one of the keys is broken, and the trackpad has been wonky for a while now. I also bought my laptop when AI wasn't a thing, so it's been weird seeing so much AI being pushed in the current gen of laptops. In addition to that, the prices are still as high as ever (ugh).

It's a hot summer, so why not stay indoors and do some coding?! As mentioned in my previous post, I wanted to get back into coding - which I did! - and I've been tinkering with my website for the last few days. My layout style is very basic and that's because I wanted it to look like layouts from the early '00s when self-hosted personal blogging was at its height (and when I joined the community). Our blog banners were known to be heavily edited with Photoshop brushes, textures, layers of colors. So, this layout is reflective of that!

At 33 years old, I feel like everything I enjoyed in my teen years are all colliding together. Bands I used to listen to came out of retirement/hiatus with new music. Certain fashion pieces I used to wear are back in style (I want the 00s style poncho top again - have had no luck in finding any!). And now the "indie web" as the kids call it. I'm a long time blogger since Xanga days, but even before that, I wrote in my own handmade diaries and journals that my siblings bought. I don't know what it is about me, but I've always had a knack for writing about my day-to-day life.
